THOUGHTS
After the parable of the mustard seed, the following occurs in Jesus' life.
Mark 4:35-41 On that day, when evening came, He said to them,
"Let us go over to the other side." 36 Leaving the crowd,
they took Him along with them in the boat, just as He was; and other boats were
with Him. 37 And there arose a fierce gale of wind, and the waves were
breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up. 38
Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke Him
and said to Him, "Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?" 39
And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, "Hush
[KJV has peace], be still." And the wind died down and it became perfectly
calm. 40 And He said to them, "Why are you afraid? Do you
still have no faith?" 41 They became very much afraid and said
to one another,
"Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?"
This is just a story, but a powerful story to the believer.
This simple story declares God’s power (here in Jesus) over ALL THINGS.
It connects my FAITH with that POWER!
We have talked several times in these sessions about peace and being sealed and
other ideas that comfort us. This is the picture that is worth a thousand
words.
Sometimes we focus on the peace when we really ought to focus on THE AUTHOR
OF PEACE! The events in my life are not to be compared to the power
behind those events.
The people in the boat had LOST CONTROL. It’s just that simple.
I have seen events in my life where THE FACT OF GOD, was all I could
deal with! But that was SUFFICIENT! It presented
enough time for God to say “Peace...Be Still...” in my life. And
that fresh breath was ENOUGH!
My Prayer:
Thank you Lord for sustaining us. Thank you Oh God for the picture of the
cross and the resurrection puts victory in our lives. Increase our faith
Oh God that we might be alive beneath the cross of Jesus. Restore to us
each day the joy of your salvation.
In Jesus precious name Amen
